Missionaries witness and serve in dramatically different locales and cultures and engage in a range of professions and activities. They come from many places and backgrounds. Global missionaries work within the United States, as well as around the world.

  • Church and Community Workers are missionaries who work in marginalized communities to strengthen and extend the church into the community, and to welcome and embrace the community within the church.
  • Missionaries around the world serve in more than 60 countries around the world. They work as congregational and leadership developers, pastors, educators, regional coordinators for UMCOR, agriculturalists, health coordinators, and doctors.
  • National Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministry missionaries serve within annual conferences to engage and strengthen both established and new Hispanic and Latino ministries.
  • Young Adult missionaries through the US-2 and Mission Intern programs also serve in the United States. Young Adults have many opportunities to serve both within the United States and in international assignments in up to three-year assignments.
